Entoloma clypeatum (L. ex Fr.) Kummer syn. Rhodophyllus clypeatus (L. ex Fr.) Quel. Schildrötling, Frülingsrötling, Entelome en Boudier, Mousseron des haies, Shield Pinkgill, Tövisaljagomba (döggomba). Cap 3–10cm across, convex then flattened with a low broad umbo, grey-brown often flushed yellowish, with darker spots or radiating lines. Stem 30–50 x 8–15mm, white tinged with cap colour, covered in long silky fibres. Flesh white, firm. Taste and smell mealy. Gills pale grey at first then flesh pink. Spore print pink. Spores angularly subglobose, 8–11 x 7.5–9um. Habitat under bushes belonging to the Rosaceae; rose, hawthorn, cherry, etc. Season spring to early summer. Common. Edibility suspect – best avoided. Distribution, America and Europe.
